Sport Field updateUnpublished After experiencing consistent above average temperatures, windy conditions over the weekend and no precipitation for the last seven days, the majority of sports fields including multi-purpose fields, green space and baseball diamonds and softball diamonds have dried out consistently. Sport field maintenance crews have been working diligently to get sports fields prepared for the beginning of the season and the City can now adjust the start date and start allocating fields this week.
As of May 6th, 2013 all multi-sport fields, green space, baseball diamonds and softball diamonds (with the exception of James Girgulis 1, 2, 3, 4 and Parc Canada 3) will be available for league and tournament play on Thursday May 9th. The diamonds at James Girgulis Park and Diamond 3 at Parc Canada Park will be available Monday May 13th.
Parks Branch anticipates all line painting of sport fields will be completed over the next two weeks weather permitting.
